Family holidaying is how we discovered Gwithian Towans, instantly falling for the location. The sand, the sea and all the unique chalets tucked neatly away in the dunes meant we just had to keep coming back. Eventually we got our very own place in the Towans (at the time it was little more than 3 sheds) and set about turning it into our home away from home.
It was a long and lengthy process, spanning 15 months, 3 Lockdowns and 8 different designs/layouts but we finally finished mid-2021. From custom built cupboards to micro-cemented bathrooms, we tried to create what we hope is the perfect holiday home.
Who doesn't love a beach. Between the flags chalet sits 200m from Gwithian Beach, part of the three miles of golden sands stretching from Hayle to Godrevy. And with an iconic Lighthouse to boot.
Godrevy Beach, a short stroll from the chalet, is one of Cornwall's most popular surfing locations. With plenty of swell, but a reputation for soft waves makes it perfect for beginner and intermediate surfers.
Never tried?
There are a number of surf schools waiting to teach you, as well as boards available to hire from Sunset Surf Café.
Looking to explore?
With glorious ocean views, wildlife and a dramatic landscape; the coastal path from Godrevy to Hells Mouth is a crowd pleaser and a short distance from the chalet.
That said, when we aren't strolling on the three miles of beach, our favourite spot to visit is Seal Point in Godrevy National Trust.
